Westminster Congregational Church Records 1892-1980

Westminster Congregational Church, originally known as First Congregational Church, is the oldest established church in the city of Spokane. The earliest church records were destroyed along with the church in the fire of 1889. Church membership once numbered more than 2,000; however a significant division caused by the merger of the congregation with the United Church of Christ in 1965, split the church. The collection includes clerk's records of the congregation (1879-1980); records of church administration, Board of Deacons, Board of Trustees, Every Member Visitation, periodical anniversary celebrations, various women's groups (1917-1978), church position on social issues, and parish relationship to Spokane Council of Churches; annual reports; budgets; newsletters; and correspondence of pastors.
